YouTube Shorts Blocker is a free Chrome extension by Prisma Labs that hides YouTube Shorts entry points and redirects direct Shorts pages back to the YouTube homepage. It runs locally in your browser.
What the extension collects
Nothing.
- No personal data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
- No analytics, telemetry, tracking, or remote servers are used.
- No network requests are made by the extension itself.
- No browsing history or page content is sent to Prisma Labs.
Why it requests YouTube access
The extension requests access to YouTube pages solely to hide Shorts UI elements and redirect youtube.com/shorts/ URLs to the YouTube homepage. It does not run on unrelated websites.
Permission details

- Used for a local static rule that redirects direct Shorts page loads before the Shorts player and feed load.
- host_permissions: *://*.youtube.com/*
- Required so the extension can hide Shorts elements and handle Shorts navigation on YouTube pages only.
Children
YouTube Shorts Blocker is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone, child or adult.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing.
